Blogtober Day 11 - Rant About Fandoms

Hello everyone! It has finally come. The day I've been waiting for. The day I get to rant. Be prepared.

Today's Blogtober prompt is *cue dramatic music* Rant About ____. Now I've been waiting for this day since I first typed it as October 11. And I knew exactly what I was going to rant about. Are you ready? Let's go!

Oh dear I'm probably going to sound like a horrible person after this.

I don't want to share my fandoms.

Oh Wentz, this was a bad idea. The thought of someone else being as obsessed with something as much as me (or more obsessed) angers me. They're mine, all mine.

I cringe and want to scream when someone else tells me they love Phan too and that they think Phil is an adorable ray of sunshine. I silently would think in my head: No, back off, Phil is my adorable ray of sunshine.

But like I won't hate you because you like my fandoms, I'll like you even more, there's just like an instinct, I guess?

This is going to get weird but I always get so protective when someone says '[Pete Wentz, Tom Felton/Draco Malfoy, Matt Smith) is my husband'. Because he's my husband.

And I follow a bunch of fandom accounts on Tumblr and whenever I see like a Harry Potter/Doctor Who account saying 'I loved Phan's new video!' or 'FOB's new song is ahh' I will get so mad. I have absolutely no clue why.

And I'm like half and half with my favorite bands and Youtubers getting popular. Like I'm so proud of my babies but I want their videos and music all to myself because none of the regular humans will understand how much I love them.

It's like similar with books. I'll be reading a book and then rave to my friends about how much I love it and then one of them will ask to borrow it. And I want to lend it to them but I want to be the only one to soak in the greatness of the book because I feel like they won't understand the greatness of it all.

But for some reason I don't do the Phan/FOB thing with Harry Potter or Doctor Who? Maybe I've accepted that they have a lot of fans, I don't even know?!

I love little cute Harry as much as I love little cute Patrick Stump, I feel protective towards both of them but I don't get nearly as 'cringy' when people like Harry Potter? I'm so confused help

If someone knows the science behind this please let me know because I'm lost.

And I hope I'm not the only person who feels this way. Please don't unfollow, I know I sound like a selfish person.

  3. I getcha. I feel that way about Tolkien stuff too. It's rare you'll find another fan who's not JUST into LOTR and Hobbit but also likes Sil, Unfinished Tales, etc. And I love talking about Tolkien with them until I find out they know a little more about it than I do. Then I automatically hate them and think they're a horrid person xD idk man.

  9. I can totally relate to this!!! I want to talk about my fandoms with people, but at the same time is makes me mad when it's "their thing", cause it's my thing! This rant kind of goes along with my rant about my favorite band. :)

Hey! Yes you, you're about to leave a comment, why thank you! Just remember, if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all.
