WIP: My Best Friend, the Ghost

Hello everyone! Finally, after months of writers block and discontent, I'm working on my first solid novel project. As a plotter. Save me.

I'm KIDDING, plotting is kind of fun, and kind of necessary based on my past experiences with writing, but that's a post for another day. After reading Sunset's post  and Morning's post, I managed to create some visuals and summarize what I have of my novel to share with you!

this is just a rough rough rough rough rough the roughest of the rough draft/summary. don't laugh at me or throw tomatoes, not yet.

the roughest of summaries

Avis is the most introverted person you will ever meet. She doesn’t talk to anyone, she has no friends, and she intends to keep it that way. The social pyramid, math, and gym class are her worst enemies, but she really doesn’t care anymore. Avis is depressed, but never wants to admit it.

Sayni is the most interesting person you will ever meet. He doesn’t talk to anyone, he has no friends, probably because no one can see him, and he intends to keep it that way. The world, human beings, and his spiteful father are his worst enemies. Sanyi died 5 years ago, and never passed on, but he really doesn’t care anymore. Sanyi is depressed, and he’s willing to admit it, but there’s no one there to listen.

Two similar, yet completely different beings cross paths on the courts of a small high school in Indiana. Dodgeballs were thrown at faces, but not at Avis, the balls merely hovering in front of her, all caught by Sanyi, which lead everyone to believe that she’s a witch of some sort, they didn’t even know she existed. With the help of Sanyi, Avis treks slowly through high school, ditching her shell and taking on a more outgoing personality. In return, Avis makes it her mission to put Sanyi at ease and let him pass on calmly.

the stars of the show

Avis Chamakadaar // shining bird (latin + hindi)

Basic information: 17 years old, born in Hammond, Indiana (where the story is set), Indian American, brown eyes, brown hair, 5'3, olive skin tone, human being.

Characteristics: Shy, doesn’t speak at all, keeps to herself, doesn’t let anyone get close to her, stubborn, unmotivated.

Avis doesn't look out for anyone, not even herself. She keeps to herself, and locks her heart away somewhere where even she can't reach it. Her mother is kept away in rehab for alcoholism and her father got married to another woman, Arya, who is surprisingly the only person who can make her smile. She keeps herself hidden, making sure no one will notice her (ironically, Avis is "notice" in French, I didn't know that until hm, 5 minutes ago?) almost like, a ghost.

Sanyi Kato // changing old to new - sanyi is the name sandy (hungarian and japanese)

Basic information: 22 years old, born in Gary, Indiana, Hungarian with slight Japanese origins, brown eyes, blonde hair, 6'0, beige skin tone, ghost.

Characteristics: Fairly outgoing, awkward, caring, helpful.

Sanyi is not at ease, but he doesn't care that much. His mission was to help people on earth with their silly day jobs, and he's doing just that. He isn't depressed, why would he be, he's making people happy, even though they don't really know he's there. Yet, in his heart, he has anger towards his father, who was never arrested for Sanyi's murder and was never discovered for what he really did. Deep down in his heart, his mission was always to never let his father get away with his actions, for then he really knew, he could pass on, peacefully.

the supporting cast

Drake // Sanyi's younger brother - Genevieve // Avis's friend - Jamie // Avis's friend

this is perhaps, the roughest thing I've written, but it'll be shaped as I work through the novel and plotting, putting bits and pieces together! My goal is to have the whole plan ready before November so I can hopefully write this for NaNoWrimo, with a fully planned out novel. Whooh, that feels good to type.

Maybe I'll share more as I go along but for now, I leave you with this. *grins* hope you enjoyed!

Confessions of a Blogger

Hello everyone! Yesterday, I was thinking about some things I've learn and done as a blogger that I would rather not admit, however I thought it would be cool to talk about them, why not.

I was originally going to make this into a tag but I couldn't come up with enough questions so

background picture is not mine

1) I'm a hypocritical blogger.
In May, I wrote a post on how to make internet friends. I don't do that, I'm quite shy when it comes to making friends and I've never actually asked anyone if they wanted to be friends, I've just kind of waited for someone to approach me, which no one really has. mistake #1, being antisocial and then I complain about having no friends to myself. vicious cycle, isn't it?

2) Again, I'm a hypocritical blogger.
I always rant about grammar and spelling and punctuation and get really angry and disgusted when I see people not using it in a post and I will usually click out of the post. But. I almost NEVER use capital letters anymore, no clue why, it just looks nicer? or maybe because it's easier and I don't want to click shift every time? i think it's just the lazy factor, y ikes.

3) I say I'm doing things but I really haven't started them at all.
Back when I did guest posts, and now when I do blog designs, I completely FORGET and then they email me asking me where it is and I say I'm working on it and I'm busy but really i'm just an extremely forgetful person. it has NOTHING to do with you, I just forget everything.

4) I've reused pictures millions of times.
I'm too lazy to take new pictures, so I just use one from months back, hoping and praying no one notices.

5) I get stressed about pageviews and followers.
I know that I can't really control them and that I just have to put stuff out there and do some other things and then just wait (A+ description) but I get really happy with a new follower and stressed when a post gets less views than another post that got twice as many.

6) I wish that I'd get constructive criticism, but then I wonder how I'd react.
You know, it would be good and stuff and helpful, a lot, I wish people would stop being nice during survey but at the same time I don't know how I'd feel if someone gave me a harsher comment.

7) I cringe at myself.
I'll write a post, and then publish it, and then look at it and then want to die because it's so cringeworthy. I also think that I try too hard to be funny and entertaining, YIKES.

8) I spend more time coming up with post ideas than actually writing the post.
Honestly it takes me at least 2 hours to come up with the post and less time to write it, is that bad? I'm just out of ideas at this point, ahahah. aha. ah. a. sometimes I don't do anything at all.

What are your blogging confessions? Any wacky things that you do that you wouldn't admit until now?

Where Is My Blog Going?

Hello everyone! SURPRISE, 2 and a half years later I still don't know what I'm doing.

This blog has changed so much, but I've always been posting the same things and it's just a wild mess of things at this point, which is why I don't think it's going anywhere.

People may disagree, I have a good number of readers and followers whom I love very very much and I couldn't be happier with them. edit: LITERALLY JUST REALIZED THAT I NOW HAVE 100 FOLLOWERS ON BLOGLOVIN WHAT IS THIS why i'm A MESS

But mentally I feel like my blog hasn't gone anywhere, I'm still a 9 year old like I was when I started this blog who doesn't know what she's doing and she's just throwing things out there.

I told myself over the years that I didn't need a niche, and that it was okay to wild and spontaneous with my posts but I don't want to do that anymore. I may not need a niche but I want one.

The problem is, what is it going to be? I could take it several routes.

I could become a book blogger and review things and fangirl about the books I read, it's a big possibility, my blog really has been morphing into that ? But I don't review things that often, and being very honest, I'm not the best at it.

I could become a full time poetry writer and just put poetry on my blog, I already do that a lot, it's fun and I do write a lot of poetry. But my poetry isn't that original 60% of the time, could I really put out a poem every other day for the rest of my blogging career?

I could just become a lifestyle blog, I'm doing it right now, I do that kind of stuff a lot. oh who am I kidding my life is not as exciting as I need it to be for a lifestyle blog.

i don't know what i'm gonna do. i've really changed as a person and maybe i'll just keep it the way. for the meantime.

i'll fix myself.. probably.
grr i might not even publish this it's A MESS (like my blog ahAH)

bye all,

Tunes and Reads | Intense Music for Intense Books

Hello everyone! I don't know about you, but I love listening to music when I read. It just gives a nice background to my reading experience. Of course there are several other perks/things to remember and I thought it would be nice to ahem, list them to you because l i s t s

here are some things to keep in mind/reasons WHY you could try combining reading + music

ONE || better visualization

maybe you're reading a very intense scene in your book and you're like INTENSE EXTREME WOW. but then you're listening to a very intense song and you're like EVEN MORE INTENSE EXTREME.

The background song can give you a better grasp on the scene, like in a movie, the music kind of shapes the scene.

a cool option is to like play the movie soundtrack if the book has a movie adaptation. that gives the FULL experience. try it, it might be easier to picture stuff in your imagination zone. (or your brain if you want to call it that)

TWO || associating books with music

I don't know if this is necessarily a reason why, but it is another cool thing that might not be a thing for everyone but it's happened to me a lot??

Sometimes if I'm listening to an album/playlist while reading a book, I'll start to think of that book when listening to those songs. For example I listened to AM by Arctic Monkeys while reading Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and I always think of the character St Claire when listening to certain songs?

Is my brain just weird or does this happen to other people help

THREE || not all music is good for reading

you know how I said intense music? yeah heavy metal and rock shouldn't be the intense music that you're listening to while reading. something lighter, or any type of classical music is nice. Also try to keep it quieter.

why? because having your brain focus on too many things at once is bad, but if you keep the music on the down low, you won't have that problem.

FOUR || fitting music to books

The thing with Arctic Monkeys and Anna and the French Kiss just happened to work together for me. But lately, I've been trying to gather playlists that fit with the book to actually elevate my experience.

Don't listen to hardcore classical during a light romantic book, it's going to be more distracting because the music doesn't ACTUALLY fit the book. I don't think a date by the river fits with Flight of the Bumblebees. Unless it's some sort of intense scene, YOU GET WHAT I MEAN.

If you're listening to lighter music while reading a lighter book, it's gonna be easier to slip into the book. It's like the thing with the movie soundtrack, the music fits with the scene. if that makes ANY sense whatsoever.

FIVE || reading + music isn't for everyone

If you are good at multitasking, you have good focus, you don't get distracted easily, then you should give it a shot.

If you get distracted easily, it might be hard for you, not saying you shouldn't give it a shot, but you might be focusing too much on the music and won't be able to read.

Do you read while listening to music? Do you think that it would be for you? What songs do you like to listen to while reading?

Friday

the universe is strange and so are we

we were too rare to die
too strong to survive
strange ones gleaming in the sun's light

we are so effortlessly wonderful
that even the brightest of stars envied our shine

we found home in the vast universe
traveling from planet to planet
in our minds, or maybe in reality

the universe called us home
we followed the call
we never looked back and disappeared

into the wild, where we opened our hearts, chaotic.

Keeping Myself Organized

Hello everyone! I've recently been inspired by bullet journaling to start working in a nice planner I bought, it's extremely useful for keeping myself in check so I thought it would be nice to share with you how it's going so far.

This my spread for this week, I started with the planner on Wednesday so I had these two blank boxes to work with. Next week I'm planning on using the weekend boxes for this since they're too small to do anything else with.

The Monday box I kept a little "habit tracker" where everyday I tracked whether I did a couple of things that I wanted to do everyday or regularly. Working out, going out to play soccer, drinking 5 cups of water and writing my blog. I just colored in the box when I did something that day.

The Tuesday box is where I started an emotion tracker for the entire month. Everyday I'd use a color to indicate how I was feeling that day; sad, angry, happy. envy.

my handwriting is so GROSS and I spelled month as "moth" why

Then for the day boxes, I did a little timeline at the top where I could block out my day. I'd track how much I slept, whether I had any events that day, and when I wanted to go out and play soccer.

Under that, I just put some tasks that I wanted to accomplish as little reminders, for my art journal, things I wanted to order, blog related things, anything that I wanted to accomplish that day.

- - - -

Besides keeping a planner, I also really like to track what I want to do in the day, scheduling it in hour blocks. EX: 1:00 - write blog, 3:00 - play soccer

It really helps me to make sure that I'm doing everything that needs to get done so I can accomplish more in a day with a plan so I don't get distracted and procrastinate (even though I sometimes do anyway..)

- - - -

Having a planner and keeping a to-do list are both very simple things but they've helped me out so much this past week that I've gotten more done than I did in the entire month of July. When school starts you can just call me Organized Girl. if I keep it up.

Let me know how you stay organized? Do you use a planner or keep a bullet journal? Maybe we can share ideas :D

The Sunday Sunshine #4 - Saturday Edition

Hello everyone! It's that time again where I recap on the week! (the original series was Sunday Sunshine but whatever) This week has been pretty chill, I didn't go out of the house but I was very productive so !!

- I went out the house once this week to go for a walk by the river and then we had to go back because the pathway was closed. yikes

- I've been extremely productive with fitness and I've ran or went out and played soccer every day this week !! gotta get in shape for soccer season

you know, i wasn't even looking for a glee gif but it came up and i had to use it

- I've been OBSESSED with glee again after beginning to rewatch it end of July. I'm almost finished with it again and I'm sad I don't want it to be over *cries*

- My current music obsessions are the Glee soundtrack, preferably the season 3 soundtrack and AM, an album by Arctic Monkeys (it's so great if you love alternative rock, go listen to it)

- I'm actually reading this month! (probably because of Harry Potter tbh) I finished Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (my review) already so I'm going strong for August.

- My current goal is to read a book every week, summer is surprisingly slow on reading for me so I'm trying my best.

- Current read: Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

- Fanfics and more fanfics. It's always fanfics these days. I'm currently planning an Albus Potter x Scorpius Malfoy fanfic and I'm having loads of fun with it.

- I've really only been writing fanfics but I want to start writing an actual novel, maybe I'll wait for NaNo in November.

- I've been trying to up my blogging game lately. My posting schedule is back and I'm managing to create somewhat good quality posts while having fun with it at the same time.

- I need to start commenting and reading blogs again because I miss my favorite blogs :(

- I've also started thinking about Blogtober, and I think I might do it in September this year so I can come up with all new post ideas to use :D

That was my not so hectic week! Let me know how your week has been, what have you been listening to, what have you been reading?

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - REVIEW

Hello everyone! *SCREAMS* this book This doesn't need an introduction, if you haven't heard about this book, you've been living under a rock. (it's the script for the new harry potter play.) ahem let's just get into it.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

---

This book was a rollercoaster of mayhem and confusion. It will contain spoilers. So if you haven't read the book yet, go read it so we can all talk about it together :)))

Despite all the fan comments about the format of the "book" getting in the way of the reading experience, I personally didn't find it that complicated. It's not that different from a normal book, and I see no way how you could find it difficult to read. Of course, I wouldn't prefer this format over a normal book format but it is tolerable.

But I can see the fan disappointment with this book. It included more mature themes and had things that weren't as magical as the other books, which doesn't necessarily make it bad it just made it different. A lot of the Harry Potter fans who read the books when they originally came out are in their late teens, early twenties by now so it makes sense that the book seems more "adult." Maybe adults got more out of it than kids did.

I never really needed anything more from Harry Potter, I had fanfiction, all seven books which ended PERFECTLY. It was good, it was nice, it was Harry Potter, I'm not complaining. But I was satisfied with the series, I didn't need this.

But I still enjoyed it, nonetheless.

Let's actually talk about the plot.

The plot, for the most part, was decent. But it didn't feel like a Harry Potter book. Now I get it, there were different writers, it's a different thing. But every single thing in a Harry Potter book connects together to create the ending, it's a perfect puzzle and this wasn't it.

The conflict was also confusing, we didn't even get the real conflict until later in the book. At first the conflict was Harry's child who won't work with him, and then it was saving Cedric, and then it was crazy daughter of Voldemort Delphi.

Speaking of, did the two of them really think that they could save Cedric and nothing would go wrong?? Yeah, I get they were only 14 but seriously any wizard. any human being in their right mind would know that if you meddle with time, stuff's going to go wrong. And why Cedric? There were hundreds of other people that Albus could have saved that "died for Harry" but Cedric? Sure Amos came into Harry's house asking him to save Cedric (mind you, he's 60 something and he thinks that Harry can meddle with time and get away with it...). But still, I mean really, out of all things. It could have been a stupid, extra special act of teenage rebellion coming from Albus. but really

Other Things That I Despised

- How come Ron was the DUMBEST GUY?? I was never fond of him and I always believed that he was there for comic relief but in this one he was just dumb? Like COME ON give him something for gods sake, he was just standing there like an idiot making stupid jokes. At least in the original series he did things like saving Harry. It's like the writers were just mocking him, especially when Albus was "being him" with the Polyjuice Potion. It disgusted me, they made a fool out of one of the main characters. Ron is allowed to be the funny guy, but not the dumb funny guy who does nothing but stick by Hermione's side and follow her around like a stupid sidekick.

- This is minor but the trolley witch? she doesn't even know her own name? whaTTT. That made me so freaking sad like why would you do that? why?

- Harry being a horrible father. Based on the epilogue, I expected Harry to be a wonderful father, he seemed caring and loving.

I never in my life would imagine Harry being anything but that, like it was so horrible seeing one of my favorite characters being trash like that I mean it was bad. Especially in the alternate reality when he wouldn't let Albus be friends with Scorpius (seriously). Some of the things he said and did made me want to cry.

- WHERE WAS EVERYONE ELSE???? The main reason that I wanted this book was to get a story about all of the next generation kids. The whole story focused on Albus and Scorpius. Rose was in it for .2 seconds. I think Hugo was mentioned once. Poor James and Lily barely got any dialogue. AND WHERE WAS TEDDY? I wanted to read about him so bad but no, nonexistent.

those things took away that one star that made me give this book 5 stars, it makes me sad, but even if it is Harry Potter, the thing I love the most, I have to be an honest rater :(

anyway, let's move onto the happiness, the positive things that made me give this book those other 4 stars :D

Things That I Absolutely Loved

- The Malfoys !! I've always been a sucker for Draco Malfoy, he was my favorite character in the series and still is and I love him loads. BUT I ALSO ADORE SCORPIUS. I honestly thought he brought all the good out in Draco and showed the fans that Draco is more than what Rowling depicted him as in the books. He found something to love and truly care about and that was Scorpius. Draco learned from Scorpius and I loved it so much I could cry about it for days, it was to me, the best part of the book.
Some quotes from the Malfoys

“Draco: Astoria always knew that she was not destined for old age. She wanted me to have somebody when she left, because . . . it is exceptionally lonely, being Draco Malfoy. I never realized, though, that by hiding him away from this gossiping, judgmental world, I ensured that my son would emerge shrouded in worse suspicion than I ever endured."

"Draco: And being alone — that's so hard. I was alone. And it sent me to a truly dark place. For a long time. Tom Riddle was also a lonely child. You may not understand that, Harry, but I do ..."

"Scorpius: I am--Scorpius the Dreadless. I am--Malfoy the Unanxious...What's the worst they can do? Bring back Moldy Voldy and have him torture me? Nope."

"Draco: Hermione Granger, I’m being bossed around by Hermione Granger. And I’m mildly enjoying it."

"Draco: Keep up, old man.
Harry: We’re the same age, Draco.
Draco: I wear it better"

i love

- Scorpius and Albus's friendship. OHMY it was the cutest. I loved how they just stuck by each other and they were always there, no matter what crazy thing they were getting up to. They never left each other's side because they needed each other. It's the true friendship, they kept each other alive, they kept each other sane. And I will LIVE FOR IT. I will also BROTP and OTP it because I'm confused and my brain is fighting, one side says Scorose and another says Scorpius x Albus. gah.

"Albus: No. They’re not true. And I’ll tell you why. Because I don’t think Voldemort is capable of having a kind son — and you’re kind, Scorpius. To the depths of your belly, to the tips of your fingers. I truly believe Voldemort — Voldemort couldn’t have a child like you.

Scorpius: That’s nice — that’s a nice thing to say.

Albus: And it’s something I should have said a long time ago. In fact, you’re probably the best person I know. And you don’t — you couldn’t — hold me back. You make me stronger — and when Dad forced us apart — without you —

Scorpius: I didn’t much like my life without you in it either."

- HERMIONE GRANGER !! Hermione was all I expected her to be: strong, independent, and Minster for Magic. She was fierce and didn't need any one to boss her around. She was probably the character that most closely resembled how she was in the original books. She was the Hermione Granger that I fell in love with when I was 8 years old and I applaud the writers for doing that for me.

"Hermione: If this is your way of saying you want a marital break, Ron, then, to be clear, I will skewer you with this quill."

- The whole thing with Delphi. Even though this was disliked by a lot of fans, I thought this was interesting and different. The whole idea of Voldemort having a daughter with Bellatrix does disgust me but intrigued me at the same time. I did like it and how it added a whole new thing to the plot, something which I wouldn't really think that would be in the original books.

Overall, this book gets a 4 out of 5 stars. It was't horrible, but it wasn't what I expected it to be. They could have done better. But the Malfoys and Hermione were a few things that they did right.

Let me know if you've read this book and what you thought of it, I'd love to discuss it with you all :)

Thanks for reading,
Noor

The 5 Types of Bloggers

Hello everyone! Different type of post, I'm going to be listing the 5 types of bloggers that I've seen from experience while browsing around. Maybe you'll identify as one of them! NOTE: this isn't meant to be offensive in anyway :)

Pokeblogger Type #1
The Perfectionist

Moves: Photography Junkie, Grammar Nazi, Mega Redoer, Organizer

Strengths: This blog, is p e r f e c t i o n. This blogger puts serious time in their posts. They've got a rough draft, a first draft, and then a final draft. They edit all of their posts and pictures and their blog aesthetic is always amazing. And somehow, they manage to keep up a great posting schedule.

Weaknesses: Being The Perfectionist is hard, like hard. And extremely stressful. These bloggers tend to get stressed out. When they're not blogging, they're often ripping their hair out. (maybe an exaggeration)

Pokeblogger Type #2
 The Inspired

Moves: Originality, Inspiring Posts, Dream Catcher, Creativity.

Strengths: You see these posts and you think how they came up with this. Their posts are bursting with creative things and creative words. They also give off these inspiring feelings that inspire you to do crazy things. How they do it? What is the magic that they throw in? You may never know.

Weaknesses: Since their posts give off those crazy inspiring feelings, they often get their post ideas stolen. They do come up with things that have never been seen before, so those nasty post idea thieves think it's okay to snatch them. Without credit. *shudders*

for example. glee is inspiring (not an example, just an excuse to put a glee gif)

Pokeblogger Type #3
The Blogger of the Arts

Moves: Creativity, Muser, Writing Phenomenon, Serenade

Strengths: Writing poems or stories, music, art, whatever this blogger may post: they're killer at it. They will blow your socks off, blow you to another country with their content. It's amazing, you'd kill for their talent. Everything they post is always insanely great, you wonder why they're not famous yet. Their poetry is deep and moving. Their musical voice is stunning. Their instrumentals are crazy. Their art is so beautiful and creative that you could cry. And their stories are bestseller worthy.

Weaknesses: Sometimes you won't see this blogger for a couple weeks. And that's because of artist/writer's block. They won't know what to post, their creative juices are gone. But they come back eventually. And their posts are as killer as ever.

what's that? another glee gif? yes because if they all had blogs, they would be this blogger

Pokeblogger Type #4
The Journaler

Moves: Simple Yet Personal , Down to Earth, Short and Sweet, Vlogger Blogger

Strengths: This blogger generally leads to more personal posts, whether it's about their life or just other lifestyle related things. Their posts are always nice to read, and include cute pictures from their life. It's like a reality show, keeping up with their life, except not nearly as crazy.

Weaknesses: Sometimes, it's hard to share things that happen in your life, especially with other people. That's just about the only weakness, being this blogger is quite easy, and fun :D

look at how awesome i am i managed to put a gif relating to reality tv and a blog with soul in one gif.

Pokeblogger Type #5
The ???

Moves: All Over, Posting Storm, Idea Tornado, Huh

Strengths: What kind of blogger are they? You can't really tell. Their posts are all over the place, you'll never know what you'll get. But you love the fact that they're spontaneous and you can get excited to see what they have in storm next. They have TONS of ideas and whenever they deliver them, it's pretty great.

(do you see it coming)

(there is is)

Weaknesses: It's hard for this blogger to manage their posts and what they're going to post. They might do a lot of one post at a time and not enough of another type of post. It gets hard to not be able to choose one niche to focus on, some readers might follow for one thing, and not like something else they post.

Pokeblogger #6
The One With the Glee Gifs

Moves: Gifs Galore, Crying Over Glee, Sobbing Over Glee, Shipping Glee Characters

Strengths: everything

Weaknesses; Klaine

i'm kidding. maybe.

That was something new for me. But let me know which blogger you think you are, maybe you're a combo of some of these, tell me in the comments :D

I might be 6, not quite sure.

(don't be offended by this, seriously, it's not meant in that way :))

Noor
