Writing Challenge- CAS

Hello everyone! Today I have a writing challenge that can help you earn points for camp! The challenge is called:

(bad editing alert)

The challenge is simple. All you have to do is write a 7-20 sentence essay on how you spent your summer vacation. All the highlights and stuff like that. If you have a blog, post the essay on your blog with the picture above (make sure to explain that it is my picture) and send me the link somehow and bam! 10 points for your cabin!

Now, if you want, you can turn this into a tag and tag 3 people. To make it more fun, you can ask them questions about their summer that they have to answer in their essay. This is meant to be a fun activity so don't think you are going to be graded!

I am going to start off by asking 5 questions and tagging 3 people. You don't have to be tagged to do the essay so write away!

My Questions-
1. What were three things you did over the summer? Describe them in 1-2 sentences.

2. Where was the most fun place you went?

3. Did you see any family?

4. If you could describe your summer in 1 word, what would that word be? Why?

5. On a scale from 1-10, how was your summer?

I TAG:

Hope you enjoy this tag/challenge!

Noor

Thursday Summer Learning- The Brain

Hello everyone! Today we are going to learn about the brain. But, before we begin, I have a few announcements like always! It's about the prizes. If you aren't feeling comfortable about telling me your address, perfectly fine. If you have an email, even better! I can send you a gift card code to your favorite store/video game. Let's say you told me your favorite game was Club Penguin, I could send you a 10 dollar gift card to Club Penguin or a membership card to Club Penguin.   All you have to do is tell me you don't want to give me your address and then tell me your favorite store and voila! You have earned your prize with only the problem of giving me your email! Simple? Good.

Email Prizes-
1st Place- 10 dollar gift card to wherever they want.
2nd Place- 10 dollar gift card to Target.

YOU MUST CONTACT ME BEFORE AUGUST 30 IN ORDER TO RECEIVE YOUR PRIZE

Let's Learn About The Brain!

For today's assignment, we will be learning about the brain and what it does.

Source: www.sciencekids.co.nz

The frontal lobe (the one in blue) is the biggest part of your brain. It controls things such as problem solving, decision making, and emotions. It also controls some of your basic muscle functions.

The parietal lobe (the one in yellow) is part of the frontal lobe. It helps you figure out when something is painful, or too hot or cold. It also helps you write and draw.

The temporal lobe (the one in green) is the part of the brain that helps you hear. It also helps us understand that someone is talking to us.

The occipital lobe (the one in pink) is the part of the brain that helps you see. This lobe is very fast because it has to take in all of things we are seeing, which is a lot of things.

Your Assignment

For today's assignment, I want you writing an essay on the brain in your own words using some outside information. I also want at least 3 fun facts in your essay. This essay will earn you and your team 5 points and an extra 3 bonus points for putting in 5 more fun facts. So, with this assignment, you can earn 8 points!

I hope everyone learns something today and make sure to read the announcement at the beginning because it has some very very important information!

Thanks for reading,
Noor, the brain professor

(In tomorrow's post, I'll let the person know you asked them just in case they did not check the comments.) Then, the person must answer the questions and ask you the same questions. Finally, you must answer the questions to get the full 4 points for your cabin. The most points one person can earn for their team is 12 points.

Challenge 2: Trivia Fun

This challenge asks 4 trivia questions to each team (different for each team) and each person from the team has to answer each question to get 4 points. 1 point for each question answered

WELCOME TO CAMP AMAZING SPARKLE!

It's finally here! CAS, CAMP AMAZING SPARKLE!!!

WOOT WOOT! Before we start camp activities tomorrow, we're going to have to get set up!

STEP 1- Find Your Cabin
If you've already made a cabin, skip this step and read the next one. Individual campers listen up: comment a number. First commenter would comment 1, second commenter 2, etc. This will help you sort into cabins. I'll explain why in a second.

1,2,3,4 - you are in Cabin Awesomeness
5,6,7,8- you are in Cabin Fabulous

STEP 2- Points
Have you found your cabins, great! The people in your cabin doesn't matter its how well they do. For each activity a camper does, they must comment on the post saying they did it and their cabin name. In each post I will give a "proof request". Let's say it was a sewing craft, for the "proof request" I might ask you to describe the fabric you used. If I believe your proof then your cabin gets a point. Another way to get points is by participating in all of the weekly camp activities by commenting on the posts. This gets you two points. The cabin that gets the most points is awarded a special prize at the end of camp to each of the campers.

STEP 3- Gather Supplies
Every post I will say what you need but you should have basic supplies:
paper, glue, scissors, pens, pencils, markers/crayons, and paint.

That's all for camp but I do have a quick 30 day!

DAY 7- Your 5 Favorite Songs

My five favorite songs are: Jar Of Hearts: Christina Perri, Let It Go: Idina Menzel, Where Have You Been: Rihanna, Still Into You: Paramore, and Dark Horse: Katy Perry.

Camp Update/30 Day Challenge

Hello everyone! I have some more updates for camp and another 30 Day Blogging Challenge post! Let's get started.

CAMP UPDATES-

-I've sort of deleted the cabin thing. If you want to make a cabin, sure, but if you don't want to make a cabin and you just want to be an independent camper that is fine too.

- You don't have to do everything in camp. Some people are saying that they are going to be busy, and that's okay! You can choose the things you want to do and do those things!

- A little bit more about cabins- if you want to make a cabin, be sure to tell me these following things in your comment: you want to have a cabin, cabin's name, and how many people. Thanks!

Day 5- Your Proudest Moment (in 5th Grade)

I've had so many proud moments so I've just decided to choose from 5th grade. My proudest moment in 5th grade was when I was chosen to enter the semi-finalist competion for the Invention Convention. I was one of the 50 kids chosen over hundreds and hundreds of students who entered in my town and the surrounding towns. My invention is the Fishy Feed and the convention is on June 7, 2014. I am obviously going to blog about it.

Anyways, what was your proudest moment?

Hope you try to make it to camp!

30 Day Blogging Challenge- Day 6

Hello everyone! I'm back! I have 3 photos for you and Day 6 of 30 Day! First, let me show you the pictures.

I edited this flower picture and I think it looks awesome.

A view from the bottom of a tree. I edited it a bit.

These ferns are in my backyard. No edit!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures! Now onto 30 Day.

Day 6- What Are You Afraid Of?

There are two things I am afraid of: bees and roller coasters.

I have been stung by a bee 7 times in my life. I hate any bee, wasps or bumblebees. Why won't they leave me alone!

I am scared of roller coasters because they are scary! They go up really high in the air and you can get sick from riding them. I have never ridden a roller coaster in my life and I certainly don't want to.

Sorry for the short post but I have a quick announcement: new page!! I'm making a new camp page so check it out!

Friday

30 Day Challenge/Information About the Camp

Hello everyone, I'm back again like I said! Before I start Day 3 of the 30 Day Blogging Challenge, I just wanted to tell you a few things.

1. I'm using my dad's computer to write this post so I do not have the picture for the challenge.

2. Yesterday or a couple of days ago, I quickly mentioned something about doing a summer camp. One person commented that I should give more info on the camp. So I'll do that here:

  • Basically, its just a thing I'll do on the blog for fun and it will be absolutely free. I won't need anyone to sign up or anything like that.
  • We'll do a lot of things like crafts, games, challenges, etc
  • It can be weekly or daily. If you chose weekly then maybe on Monday I would post all of the different activities, how to do them, what you will need and you can complete them.
  • Make the crafts/do the activities/complete the challenges and then send some sort of proof (pictures would be best) showing that you did it. On Sundays we'll have a special showcase of all of the proof I got....
  • If you gather your friends (real life or online) and make a group (3 or more) email/comment saying you would like to create a "cabin" for your group. To start camp, we'll need at least 2 cabins to start camp.
  • Camp will begin on June 1, 2014. If you want to start a cabin, make it before May 30.
  • As long as I have 2 cabins, you don't have to be in a cabin to participate but I don't want individuals until we have 2 cabins.
  • Also, if you want to guest post for camp, email me. (you don't have to be a blogger)
IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS, ASK! (I'll have some pre-camp printables that you can do with your cabin.)

Day 3: Favorite Quote

Finally, we can get to the challenge. My quote: "Moonlight drowns out all but the brightest stars" J.R.R Tolkien, author of the Lord of The Rings

I love this quote because it shows that if you are strong and brave, nothing can stop you from shining. It inspires me to stay strong and never give up.

What's your favorite quote?

MAKE YOUR CABINS AND EMAIL!

Noor, camp leader and a bright star
