Blogtember Day 3 - August Book Wrapup

Hello everyone! Blogtember Day 3, whoop! Today we'll be recapping all of the books that I read in the lovely month of August.

If you want a list of all the prompts, as well as all the disclaimers and what Blogtember is about, click here! Yesterday's prompt was your September Goals, thank you to everyone who participated, and will be participating!

For today's prompt, all you gotta do is tell us all the books you read in August, and if you want, a quick lil review on how you liked them.

these reviews are all spoiler free, read at ease.

August was a fairly good reading month for me, I got 4 books in, which is more than I did in July so *blasts confetti* yay.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Jack Thorne

I actually already did a review for this book on the blog here but I'll just give you a quick lil summary :)

This book was a rollercoaster of mayhem and confusion. If you haven't read the book yet, go read it so we can all talk about it together :)))

Despite all the fan comments about the format of the "book" getting in the way of the reading experience, I personally didn't find it that complicated. It's not that different from a normal book, and I see no way how you could find it difficult to read. Of course, I wouldn't prefer this format over a normal book format but it is tolerable.

But I can see the fan disappointment with this book. It included more mature themes and had things that weren't as magical as the other books, which doesn't necessarily make it bad it just made it different. A lot of the Harry Potter fans who read the books when they originally came out are in their late teens, early twenties by now so it makes sense that the book seems more "adult." Maybe adults got more out of it than kids did.

I never really needed anything more from Harry Potter, I had fanfiction, all seven books which ended PERFECTLY. It was good, it was nice, it was Harry Potter, I'm not complaining. But I was satisfied with the series, I didn't need this.

But I still enjoyed it, nonetheless. The characters were lovely and there were a couple plot points that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins

Goodreads link // 5 stars

THIS WAS A WONDERFUL BOOK I LOVED IT A LOT. The plot was thrilling and the romance was very cute. I'd recommend this book to anyone who doesn't really love romance books but wants to give them a shot.

The characters are really easy to fall in love with and they each have their own cute lil personalities, there should be at least one character that you can relate to.

I don't really have any bad things to say about this book, other than the fact that I felt like the characters got a little too emotional and overreacted a lot. But that's more the character, not the book.

In my opinion, it deserves its five stars.

Enter Title Here - Rahul Kanakia

Goodreads link // 2 stars

This book was much different than I thought it was going to be. Honestly I looked at the description and I could relate to the main character, her goals were very similar to mine, as was her personality.

But the book took a very dark turn, I despised the main character, she annoyed me so much, her personality was NOTHING like mine and she was just a heartless and soulless person who's sole motivation in life was success. And she would do anything to get there.

This book gets 2 stars for its ending especially, it was so anti climatic and UNREAL. I don't want to give away too much as these are supposed to be spoiler free. But it wasn't good.

I really wanted to like this book, but it was just all over the place.

The Copper Gauntlet (Magisterium #2) - Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

Goodreads link // 4 stars

I will not be including a review for this one to avoid spoilers as it is the second one in the series. But I enjoyed it, the characters were amazing, my fave is Tamara. I can't wait for the next one. The first one was the Iron Trial, if you're interested in reading the series.

What books did you read this month? Tell me a lil bit about them! Also are you a fan of romantic books? They’re slowly growing on me.

Thanks for reading,
Noor

  2. I can sometimes be in a fluffy/contemporary book mood. IT DEPENDS. It's usually after I read a dark and gritty book or several in a row and decide that I just need a break from all of the violence. XD Anna and the French Kiss was a great fluffy read. :D (am I the only one who calsl them fluffy reads? maybe. oh well. XD)

  4. I'm literally reading Anna and the French Kiss now! Took a break to click around online. Glad to know you liked it! I'm loving it so far. It's such a no brainer easy contemporary. Something I really needed especially since I'm just coming out of a reading slump.

  7. I'm not a contemporary romance reader but I did very much enjoy Anna! The characters were well cute, when I read it I was like "ETIENNE OH ETIENNE" but I subsequently saw Cait talking about it and she was saying how he annoys her, because he is basically cheating on his gf by having this big thing with Anna for months and months when Ellie isn't there, and I think that is a valid point, so while he IS cute ... he should have made better choices! But still it was a lovely read. I've not read any of the others, I'm sorry to hear you didn't like Enter Title Here! I am attracted by the cover, title and summary, but maybe I'll give it a miss ...

I've resolved not to read TCC, which was a tough decision to take, but ... yeah. I wrote a whole post about to try and sort out my tangled feelings! They are very very tangled. ~sadly plays violin~

Anyway, hope you're having a lovely September!
