Blogtember Day 22 - 5 Things That Inspire You

five things that inspire me

one : the world and its entirety. the good, beautiful, innocent, lovely people in it. the kind souls that spread their kindness, their hearts golden, glowing through their skin, giving light to anyone they cross. the gorgeous, vast, unique, breathtaking landscapes that cover the earth. the mountains that go so high, the clouds gathering around them to take in the beauty. the valleys that cover the lowlands, the tall grass that blows in the wind, catching the magical rays of the sun.

two : the emotions we feel that keep us sane. the happiness, euphoric feelings of joy. the gorgeous smiles that explodes across your face, the elated feeling of doing things that you love. feeling content with the current situation. the sadness, the emptying feeling of sorrow. but also the emotion that lets you fix everything, the low that will build your high, the next chapter.

three : a book in all its glory. the magic filled pages that feel smooth in the touch of your fingertips. the feelings of reading, taking in a story, reliving someone else's tale. having the ups and downs as you follow the book. the escape into a world that can be entirely different from your own, or so similar, that you forget that you're reading.

four : a pencil. the simplest of things, a small tool. but a small tool that can create the world. a book so inspirational that it inspires the world. a document, a law so important that it impacts the world. a drawing so gorgeous that it makes the world stare in awe. there are endless possibilities, a pencil can be your weapon, but your weapon for something good, if you use it right.

five : myself. the marvelous things that i do every day. the way i jump over the hurdles of life, and move on. all the things that i manage, wondering how i do it each and every day. the way how i manage to stay optimistic, even when it feels like the end of the world. the way how i never, ever give up, and am the most determined person i know.

let the things around you inspire you, even if it might be the simplest thing, it holds a lot of power.

Blogtember Day 21 - Current Obsessions

Hello everyone! Wooh today has been a long day, I MISSED MY BED AHH. my permanent emotion is s-t-r-e-s-s.

Today's prompt for Blogtember is to share your current obsessions! This one is fun, I love these kinds of things, I get to rant about the things that I like :P

- - - -

maggie stiefvater // dude i'm in LOVE with her writing so much, it's so fascinating?? Like the way she writes is just so freakin magical it's like you're in some sort of dream. Her imagery is just so amazing ohmy.

tomorrow is fall // how can this not be here i can't believe tomorrow is fall this is honestly the best. It's literally 80 degrees tomorrow, so it doesn't feel like fall but IT'S FALL. *throws nonexistent leaves*

candy cane oreos // it's september.. not quite sure why they're sending winter things. But okay these are an Oreo ripoff but that's besides the point. They are so delicious and they really taste like candy cane + Oreos. I finished the whole box in like 2 days oops..

getting homework done // i mean this isn't much of an obsession but i've actually been getting my homework done! I sit down at my desk and finish the majority of my homework, and it feels pretty good. This is what it's like to be productive. nice.

isabel culpeper // she's a character in Maggie Stiefvater's Wolves of Mercy Falls series and she's honestly the best person ever. She is sassy, sarcastic, and beautiful, agh i love her. She is the balance to the other main female character, who's fairly shy and like romantic i suppose.

that's all! tell me what your recent obsessions are, and if you like any of these things <3

Blogtember Day 20 - Pumpkin Cupcake Recipe

Hello everyone! Reason for no post yesterday, I had a repeat in prompts and really didn't feel like changing it.

Today's prompt for Blogtember is to share a fall food recipe or your favorite fall foods!

this was coming. i've talked about the glorious food that is a pumpkin cupcake since the beginning of september so i obviously HAVE to share a recipe for it.

for the cupcakes

1 1/2 cups (195 grams) all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup (200 grams) granulated white sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3/4 cup (180 ml) solid packed, canned pumpkin puree

for the cream cheese icing

8 ounces cream cheese, cold
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, firm but not cold
A pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 1/2-3 cups confectioner's sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla
for the cupcakes

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit and line a muffin tin with 12 paper liners.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt.
3. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar and light and creamy. Add the eggs in one at a time, scraping the sides of the bowl after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and beat to combine.
4. With the mixer on low, add the dry ingredients and pumpkin in 3 additions, alternating between the two. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, until the batter has just come together.
5. Divide the batter evenly between the 12 liners (I used an ice cream scoop to do this) and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.

for the icing

1. Beat the cream cheese, butter, salt, and cinnamon on medium until creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
2. Turn the mixer down to low and add the confectioner's sugar. Beat until incorporated, scraping down the sides of the bowl when necessary. Add the vanilla and continue beating until combined. Pipe or spread the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes.

Blogtember Day 18 - The Sunday Sunshine #6 : Stress and Soccer

Hello everyone! MY. WIFI. WENT. DOWN. YESTERDAY. I AM D E A D I DIDNT POST. i am a failure FORGIVE ME MY WIFI IS R U D E. anyway.

Today's prompt for Blogtember is your Week Wrapup! I love these, I want this to develop as a series for me, it's fun :D

- - -

- stress. stress. and lots of stress -

I made the soccer team, and practice is every day from 2:30 to 5 after school. i get home at 5:30, have at least an hour of homework every night. It's not fun. By the time I get used to it, it'll be the end of the season

- pretty much nothing else -

- This week has been fairly uneventful, I haven't really had any time to do anything else but play soccer and do homework. I did have my first pumpkin spice latte of the season though. bless.

- good considering i have no time to read -

Finished the first book of the month! haha. hah. ha. No but this is fairly good, I'm going to try to finish this next book real soon so I can try and read at least 4 by the end of the month.

- currently obsessing over maggie stiefvater -

I've loved her since March but she's amazing! I started reading the Wolves of Mercy Falls this month and it's seriously the coolest. The best part is, it's one of my faves's (courtney miller) favorite books. can it get any better than this.

- basically just this -

It's been going well except for yesterday. gr. But I'm not necessarily putting out "quality" content, I'm trying! Better stuff will be coming your way in October, I have half an hour a day to put out a post, it gets hard, so apologies!

- i miss my favorite blogs -

No time to read blogs. n o t i me. and it's making me so sad! I miss you guys! Don't worry, I'm not avoiding your blog! I literally haven't posted a comment on a blog since September 6th. I MISS ACTUALLY HAVING SPARE TIME.

Noor in August: I have way too much time on my hands. i'm dying of boredom.
Noor in September: I have way too many things in my hands. i'm dying of stress.

How was your week? Tell me the highlights? Do you love Maggie Stiefvater too?

Thanks for reading,
Noor

Blogtember Day 16 - 5 People You Want To Befriend

Hello everyone! Today's prompt for Blogtember is to talk about 5 people/groups of people that you'd like to befriend and why :) Let's get right into it!

- - - -

1) Smosh Squad - my recent obsession has been smosh and the smosh people are just awesome people, they're so caring, take the time to notice and talk to their fans, being friends with them would be the best. They'd take you to fun places and always be there for you.

2) Maggie Stiefvater - I seriously want to know what goes on up in that brain of hers, because whatever it is, it's freaking awesome. Her books are just so unique. Writing advice from her would be like life advice from Gandhi or something, I'd cherish it forever. I'd ask her how I could improve my writing, if she could beta read my novel. Or I would bow down and worship her while in tears. Most likely the second one.

3) Pete Wentz - Now, I'm not as into Fall Out Boy as I was 3 months ago, but this opinion still stands, I would love to befriend Pete. Concerts, cool award shows, being with generally an am azing person would be amazing. Pete is just so funny and inspirational, I mean, I wouldn't not want to be friends with him.

4) All of the bloggers on my Favorite Reads list on my Friends page - I'm actually friends with a few of these people. which I am eternally grateful for and I love them to death. But there's a few that I've just been like "hey cool i love everything about your personality but i'm 100% entirely too scared to approach you" This is the most likely out of all of the 5 to happen.. that is if I ever build up the guts to email these people.

but also, every single blog I read, all those bloggers are awesome and I'd love to be friends with them:

5) Malala Yousafzai  - this is the most cliche thing I have ever, and probably will ever meet since 5 million other people in the world would put her on a list but Malala has been a huge inspiration to me for the past couple years, she had to be on this list. She gave me hope during a lot of times, and kept her chin up, which inspired me to do too. In fact, she was one of my inspirations to start this blog, back when I was an "activist blogger".

- - - -

who are your inspirations/people you want to befriend + why? Let me know!

it's 8:30 and I'm literally about to pass out from sleepiness what is this who am i

Blogtember Day 15 - Current Read + How You Like It

Hello everyone! This is my favorite prompt, probably, I LOVE reviewing and now I have motivation to do it! Yay!

Today's prompt for Blogtember is to review your current read, basically saying how you like it so far! Seeing as I am literally 20 pages from the end of this book, I guess this'll just be a little review!

I'm also trying a new review style so let's see how this goes.

the summary

Sam shape-shifts into a wolf during the cold season and turns back into a human during summer. Grace was bitten by wolves when she was a child, but somehow, she remained human.

what happened

They were drawn to each other when Grace finally discovered the wolves’ secret, while Sam was on his last year turning into Human. They thought that the reason she didn’t turn lupine was because of something that happened to Grace when she was a child, when she was bitten by a wolf. This formula may be the one Sam needed in order to remain as a Man for all his life.

the question

Is it really worth it?

the review

I couldn't put this down. The writing in this book is absolutely gorgeous. The characters are well-developed and realistic. The plot of the story simply swept my mind away into the world of Grace and Sam, werewolves and magic. It’s a bittersweet, funny and beautiful story. Stiefvater reinvented the idea of werewolves, it was as if she came up with them herself. This beautiful, exhilarating and heartwarming tale will have you eating chapters faster than you could ever imagine.

This thrilling tale of love between a werewolf and a girl might be cliché to other people. But somehow, this story stuck me as unique because i got to know more about wolves and their knack for the heat and cold, however, I can’t help the uncanny feeling that it is less endowed with information – as to how the history of shape-shifting really came into being. Or maybe I’m just a little excited with this assumption that I feel less informed.

The romance was interesting, unique, as I said before. But it was more romance in some parts than fantasy. If I wanted to read a romance novel, I would have reached for a romance novel.

Here's the thing. Somehow, I felt the surge of temperature inside my room (in this hot summer weather, mind you) while I was reading Sam’s transformation. I actually thought something would happen to me when I stepped out of the cold.. Weird... This was a nice read! I recommend it for a nightly bedtime story:)

- - -

Let me know if you've read this book, or maybe what book you're reading right now! Okay it's 10 PM goodnight all!

Noor

Blogtember Day 14 - A Day in the Life

Hello everyone! 2 weeks in, we're going strong, phew. Still stressed. But better.

Today's prompt for Blogtember is to do a Day in the Life, using pictures, videos, etc. Yesterday's prompt was to describe fall!

- - -

I decided to do a little day in the life of my trip to the Adirondack Mountains this weekend! I took some pictures up there so, perfect right?

I got up at 7 to take this picture, because the lake we were by was the prettiest thing ever.

creds to my friend for this picture - this was a #aesthetic bridge that i had to take advantage of. talk about a kodak moment. jk :P

The lake once again, we went back later in the afternoon for dinner and swimming. PR E T T Y

The water.. was so CLEAR it was insane, I feel safer when I can see what's under me. Thankfully there were no fish that were nipping at my feet.

the cute lil shed by the lake with the strangely clean changing rooms and a washer and dryer???

Noor's candids part two: after swimming edition

here's a little view of by our cabins, it was very homey but also M O S Q U I T O S

Blogtember Day 13 - Describing Fall

Hello everyone! I sprained my ankle :/ But hey I hopefully get more time to do things!

Today for Blogtember, you have to describe fall using a different form of art than you usually do, graphic design, drawing, writing, etc! It's a little bit of a challenge but it's a whole lot of fun :D

Yesterday's prompt was your Fall Essentials and tomorrow's prompt is A Day In The Life! To see all the prompts, click here!

For my option, I decided to use graphic design and list all my favorite things about fall in a little graphic using different fonts!

Some of them are similar, but it was hard to come up with so many XD

Let me know what words come to mind when you think about fall!

This was probably one of the shortest posts I've ever written.. uh oh.

***I switched up my prompt because I basically did this prompt here.

- apple picking -

A family tradition for me is to always go apple picking in a nearby farm around the end of September. I love apples and picking the different kinds, and the experience is always fun, I always feel so fall there :P plus.. APPLE PIE. A P P L E P I E. It's my favorite pie especially with caramel I mean mmm

- bath and body works shopping -

it's bath and body works.

don't judge me.. my obsession is unhealthy. I LOVE BATH AND BODY WORKS AND ESPECIALLY THE FALL SCENTS. They are so nice. Fall scents in general are nice. Apples, pumpkins, lattes, leaves and trees it's all just A+ i CRY for people who don't have BBW in their country.

- look at the leaves -

Sometimes I take walks solely to go look at the leaves on the trees, they're GORGEOUS. Fall is the prettiest time of year fight me. (don't actually fight me i'm weak) BUT IT'S SO NI CE. Like the colors are actually the prettiest things ever I'm de ad. and jumping in them is also the best thing ever??

- baking pumpkin things -

I feel like some of you knew this was coming. I. LOVE. PUMPKINS. SO. MUCH. pUMPKIN CUPCAKES. pumpkin BREAD, PUMPKIN MUFFINS, e v e r y t h i n g. Pumpkin drinks are AMAZING too, lattes, hot chocolate, juice mm.

- celebrating halloween -

Sadly I think that Halloween is an American thing (correct me if I'm wrong) but it's SO FUN. I still trick or treat, I'm not lame i love candy. aND i LOVE HAVING FUN WITH MY FRIENDS!?? I get to spend the whole night with my friends, and candy, and dressing up as my faves, what's not to love? You're never too cool to get candy.

What are your favorite things to do in fall? Are you a pumpkin person or an apple person?

Blogtember Day 11 - The Sunday Sunshine #5 : Mountains and Victories

Hello everyone! You've returned back to your daily days of Noor for this month, camping was fun but I'm glad to be home :D

Before I start the post, I just want to dedicate today to the victims of 9/11, all of them. The 2976 American people that died in the initial attacks and the 48,655 Afghani, 1,690,903 Iraqi, and the 35,000 Pakistani people who died as a result of the attacks, paying the price for a crime they did not commit. They deserve recognition too, they were innocent people involved in a horrible situation. We need to remembered every single innocent person that died on 9/11, all around the world, because 9/11 wasn't just about America. Thank you :)

On a happier note, today's prompt for Blogtember is your Weekly Wrapup (I call it Sunday Sunshine because it's just my series name), yesterday's prompt was Recent Music Favorites and tomorrow's prompt is your Fall Essentials. To see all the prompts, click here!

- - -

- school started.. yikes -

Okay, summer was great, but I'm glad to be back at school, it gives me something important to use my time up with. But it's the 4th day of school tomorrow and I'm ALREADY stressed, we have a project due Friday, and more tests coming up as well.. honors sucks. Hopefully I will learn how to manage my time. I just want to eat cupcakes all day -_-

- i made the school soccer team ahh -

VICTORY IS MINE YES AHAHA. I'm just assuming I made the team because he didn't say anything to me on Friday when people were supposed to be cut so I'm good. GOALS WERE ACHIEVED. A PUMPKIN LATTE WAS DRANK.
(what is wrong with this text it's really bothering me uuugh)

- i went to the adirondacks for camping -

This was pretty cool! Me and a couple friends went up to the Adirondack Mountains to do a weekend for camping and we chilled for a bit up there, did some hiking, did a seriously FUN ropes course and swam in a beautiful lake! ALSO THERE WERE S'MORES?? S'mores are such an insanely good food like it's the best combination in the world PLEASE try a s'more if you haven't you're welcome.

- all i’m going to say is yikes -

haha what's a book. No but really, I haven't been reading at all, it's kind of sad. I'm actually reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater that I absolutely love but I just haven't had any time to read.

too. much. homework. IT'S NOT EVEN THE FIRST FULL WEEK OF SCHOOL. u g h

- current book goal : read a book every week -

Judging by my reading pace, I can see this happening, maybe I will have another thing to add to my list of victories this month.

- hopefully october -

I haven't been writing this month but I'm not too worried, my October project is to plan out my novel, in time for my November project, NANOWRIMO. *shudders* can I do it this year, only time will tell.

Find out next time on, Noor Manages Her Time: Or Does She?

- just keep doing what i’m doing -

I'm pretty much where I want to be with my blogging, I'm doing Blogtember, doing my best (emphasis on best) to comment on blogs and it's going smooth. Don't need to change anything, don't want to change anything.

FOR ONCE THE LIFE SECTION OF THIS POST WAS ACTUALLY THE MOST INTERESTING. see SEE i have a life.

How was your week? Tell me some of the highlights! Any reading goals, or things you've accomplished recently?

Thanks for reading,
Noor
