TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

I am almost 12. I consider myself a HUGE fangirl. I like to draw and sing. I think that if you want to know more. Then you are a stalker...

Ooh, you have to post a video of you singing soon, I'd love to hear!

WHAT'S YOUR BLOGGING STORY?

I've been blogging all in all 2-3 years. I stopped and came back so I rather say 1 year!

Well I'm glad you came back :)

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BLOGGING?

My favorite part of blogging is to see all my 'fans' and chat with them! I also like to share my ideas and see what I have in common with other bloggers.

I love chatting with readers :D

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES?

My hobbies are reading, hanging with my besties, listening to music, writing in my diary, and blogging.

Hooray for reading!

WHAT'S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR BLOG NAME?

Oh my, I have always liked the phrase 'Welcome to My World' and said it a lot. I mean the blog just welcomed people to my ideas and life.

That's a great blog name! I like the idea of welcoming people into your life :)

GIVE SOME ADVICE TO NEW BLOGGERS

New bloggers, don't worry about your comments or followers at first. What you want to do is read other blogs. Comment on a few posts and ask them to read your blog! I guarantee they will, unless they are super mean.

Great advice, I totally agree!

AND THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION: CHOCOLATE OR VANILLA?

CHOCOLATE

That was the lovely Lauryn! I hope you enjoyed and you can check out her blog by clicking here!

Thanks for reading,
Noor

Monday

The Person Behind The Computer #3- GirlRadio

Hello everyone! Today we have a lovely interview from GirlRadio! Take it away interviewer me!

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

I’m GirlRadio from Nerd Glasses and Wanderlust. I have an obsession with elephants (they’re irresistible), roller coasters, and washi tape. I’m from California and ten years old (although I’m entering the sixth grade) and no, I did not skip a grade, I was just born a few days before the cutoff date.

WHAT'S YOUR BLOGGING STORY?

I’ve been blogging for (almost!) two years, since September 27, 2013. I actually don’t have one of those super-deep blogging stories (i.e. my mom was dying of cancer and I needed a place to express my thoughts, or I fell into depression and ran away and all I had was my computer so I started a blog to share my story). I just was on a whim, having some fun, and decided to start a blog. I did not know what I was getting myself into when I hit that “Create Blog” button. I know. It’s not all that touching.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FANDOMS?

Okay, first of all, I die a little inside each time anyone mentions Harry Potter, because I already finished all the books and I just wish the series was endless. I’m also kind of (but not really) into the Percy Jackson series. I know, forgive me somehow, but I’m not much of a fangirl. (I’m completely fine if you stop reading right there because you’re too appalled.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BLOGGING?

All of you lovely humans, of course! I think we have a little tween/teen girl community going on, if you know what I mean. In the comments everyone just spreads so much love to each other, and we all have each other’s back – I just think that’s so awesome. Keep being amazing, everyone!

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES?

I have a die-hard passion for performing, and I’m also really into writing, coding, and blogging (of course), and I have this talent for blurting out random facts at all the wrong times. I don’t know why, but once my older sister was literally like one of those cartoon characters with smoke coming out of her head because she was so angry, and I just felt the need to tell her that California is more populous than Canada. I don’t know what goes through my head sometimes.

WHAT'S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR BLOG NAME?

I’m somewhat a nerd in the sense that I do well in school (but I’m not socially awkward), I wear glasses, I love to travel. It just all came together. There’s nothing in particular that inspired my blog name. I’ve been through four by now.

WHO ARE YOUR INSPIRATIONS AND WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE BLOGGERS?

My writing inspiration? J.K. Rowling. Cliché, but, come on. Favorite bloggers? Um, Morning, Noor, Cassie, Oakstar, Amelie, Jolly Girl, the whole Blogs for Kids group, and Edie, to name a few.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A FRIEND?

When looking for a friend, I look for someone who’s incredibly supportive and doesn’t have a reputation for spreading rumors. Bonus points if you have a good sense of humor and at least one common interest.

GIVE SOME ADVICE TO NEW BLOGGERS

Just a while back I got stuck in a phase where I felt so terrible about not having too many followers. I kept comparing myself to bloggers who were older and had more blogging experience. But I realized that I blog for me, because I want to put myself out there, and that fame doesn’t drive me. So do me a favor and don’t ever get in a similar situation. I hope that the numbers don’t define you as a blogger.
Another bit of advice is to write with personality. Don’t try to be like another blogger; just be you, and I’m sure people will appreciate your posts. Don’t bite back your charming sense of humor, or your tendency to use big words, just because you feel like it will make your posts less appealing.

AND THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION: CHOCOLATE OR VANILLA?

Oh my gosh, Noor, you totally stumped me! Um, this answer took a lot of thought and I’m not so confident about it, but, uh, vanilla? Maybe? Okay, yeah, I’ll just go with that.

That was the amazing Girl Radio everyone! You can go check out her blog right here! Trust me, it's amazing and you should go give it a follow ;)

Also, the amazing Rukiya is having a Blogger Choice Awards so you should go check that out and vote!

Thanks for reading,
Noor

Wednesday

The Person Behind The Computer #1-Ellie

Hello everyone! We are officially starting the interviews, woo hoo! Today we are going to learn about the wonderful Ellie! Take it away girl!

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

My name is Ellie, I’m 14 years old, and I have a blog called On the Other Side of Reality. I love fantasy - reading it, writing it, obsessing over it……. I also really love music - instrumentals and alternative are two of my favorite genres. And I’m also married to Thorin Oakenshield. So hands off.

WHAT'S YOUR BLOGGING STORY?

About seven months - I started on December 31st, 2014.
Sometime in October of last year, I discovered Adi’s blog AG in the Shire. I totally loved it, and through the buttons on her sidebar found more awesome blogs, like DollsOnMyMind and Oh My Dollies. I’d kind of wanted to have a doll blog in 4th grade, but never got around to it. Now I thought of doing it again. However, I soon noticed that a lot of doll bloggers were getting unsatisfied with their blogging. They felt like they couldn’t fully express themselves on their doll blogs, and so created personal ones. I thought to myself, “Hold on. I don’t want to have to go through all that. Why don’t I just make my blog both human AND doll-related in the first place?” So that’s what I did, and on December 31st, 2014, after months of deliberation and daydreaming, I finally decided I would start my own blog. And I’m super glad I did.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FANDOMS?

The biggest one is definitely Tolkien - from Silmarillion to Hobbit to Unfinished Tales, I love everything. I also really like Discworld (another fantasy book series), Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Pentatonix, and Fall Out Boy. (YESSSSS -Noor)

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BLOGGING?

Sitting down and typing up a post. I love words and using them to express how I feel, plus there’s something about the clickety-clackety sound of typing that really makes me happy. :)

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES?

Reading, writing, playing piano…...does fangirling count? (haha, of course it does -Noor)

WHAT'S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR BLOG'S NAME?

On the other side of reality. It’s kind of where I live, you know? I’ve always been in my head, existing in imaginary, fantastical lands - I’ve never found much particularly appealing about the real world.

WHO ARE YOUR INSPIRATIONS AND WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE BLOGGERS?

My inspirations for writing are J.R.R. Tolkien, Terry Pratchett, and Robert Jordan. My inspiration for blogging is Maddie (DollsOnMyMind).
Favorite bloggers include but are not limited to Adi (AG in the Shire and Silhouette), Kelsey (Empty Boxes), Gwen (Alone in Doll World) and Nora and Maple (The Doll Wardrobe).

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A FRIEND?

Someone who is easy to talk with. Someone who appreciates peaceful silences. Someone who balances me out - I am a very fiery, energetic person, and I often like people who are calmer and a bit more grounded.

GIVE SOME ADVICE TO NEW BLOGGERS

1. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. I know you may have blogging idols to whom you look up and about whom you think, “Wow, I want to be just like them!” I certainly was that way. But being who you are - not who someone else is - is not only more effective in gaining followers and friends, it’s also tons more fun and a lot less stressful.
2. Blog at a pace that’s comfortable for you. If you feel like posting twice each day, go for it! If you only have the time or energy for posting once a week, do that! Don’t push yourself to post more or less frequently if you don’t want to or can’t - do what works for you.

. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION. Chocolate or vanilla?

Vanilla, man. Yum yum.

That was the amazing Ellie everyone! You should go check out her blog, here.

Guest Post- The Great Ice-Cream Heist... BONUS- Women's Day!

Hello everyone! Today we have a special guest poster. Lexie from Lexie Loves. Lexie has a fantabulous review blog where she reviews all kinds of things. She is going to share with us a review about The Great Ice-Cream Heist by Elen Caldecott. So here's her post:

"Hello everyone, before I do anything I'd like to say a big thank-you to Noor as I'm honored to be able to guest post on her amazing blog. I'm the writer of What Lexie Loves and today I'm going to write a review on The Great Ice-Cream Heist by Elen Caldecott.

Eva lives with her Dad and they lead a perfectly normal life - until Eva spots her next-door neighbor Jamie, boy from the 'problem family'. However that is not the last time she sees him. Oh no. Then Jamie joins the Elizabeth Park Youth Centre (the place Eva has recently started) and that's where the trouble stirs. Eva makes friends with the 'forbidden friend' and though they argue they always get through it. When Jamie is accused of vandalizing the park Eva jumps on an ice-cream van in order to get him back.

I loved this book so much as it is so funny yet sad at times - Elen, the author, can write about sad events in a light way. Before this amazing book I had read Elen's Operation Eiffel Tower which I also loved.

This book is a must-read for 7-8 year olds who like s hilarious book. And if you like this I would definitely recommend Operation Eiffel Tower.

Thank you so much to Bloomsbury for sending me this brilliant book and to Noor for letting me write this post.

You can see more reviews from me at my blog What Lexie Loves"

Thank you Lexie for writing this awesome, amazing post. If you want to check out the book on Bloomsbury, click on the link Lexie gave us.

BONUS:
As a lot of you may already know, today is International Women's Day. It's a day my mom and I like to celebrate. We celebrate it by creating a timeline for women's history. We highlight the happy times and leave the sad times white. Then, we discuss and eat a cake with the women symbol on it. (the cake is blue, supporting feminism.)

Anyways..... thank you Lexie for writing this amazing guest post and I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Happy International Women's Day!

Noor

Saturday

Interview Time!

My mom works and researches in Pakistan. She kindly let me use on of the interviews she did with a 13 year old boy named Aziz (I was told not to use the last name) His father was killed by the Taliban in a bomb blast. Translated from Urdu. (L stands for my mom)

A- "I study in private school. I am in grade 7. I have 3 brothers and sisters. My father was killed in the conflict of the Taliban, he was in the police."

L-  "Do you remember the conflict?"

A- "I was 9 in Class 4 when my father was killed. I was with my mamu (uncle) in
another town when I found out he was killed. I couldn't come because of curfew."

L- "Why was your father killed?"

A- "My father was killed because he was in the police. He was killed after the
Friday prayer. At that time he was in his civilian clothes. He was injured in the
blast and 40 days later he died. I cried a lot."

L- "Was your father against the Taliban?"

A- "My father was very against the Taliban and used to tell the Taliban that the
government will control them. The Taliban were very bad people. They fired on
         ordinary people and killed them.

L- "What will you do when you grow up?"

         A- "I will become a police man."

L- "What do you think of Malala?"

A- "I don't really know what happened to her but our principal told us that Malala
was shot. At that time I became very upset. When I listen to what Malala says, my
heart gets full of passion. I think all children should speak out like Malala.

After reading this interview over and over again I thought a lot. I thought about how the Taliban did some of the world's worst things. I also thought about some people like Aziz's father spoke out to the Taliban and told them the truth. What did you think of this interview?

Thanks for visiting,

Noor
