July Goals + TBR

Hello everyone! Happy July, the middle of summer :) To kick off July, I'm going to do a lil classic goals post to motivate myself to get things done. During summer, I'm usually lazy and not willing to do much, but I'm hoping that these goals will help me to do more things, and that the thought of having a TBR waiting for me will motivate me to pick up my book. Enjoy!

July Goals

- Keep up a blogging schedule of posting every other day/posting every 2 days. In June, my biggest trouble with the blog was not posting much, which I had been able to keep up since the beginning of my blog. In July, since I'm basically doing nothing, I really hope to post a lot more, and give out posts with more quality and creativity.

- Complete Camp NaNoWrimo. I didn't do Camp in April because I was a wimp, but I think I can change that now. I'm writing a fanfiction for Camp this year, not as stressful because I've been out of writing well for months now, so I'm going to take it slow. My goal is 30k, the same as for all the Camp NaNos I do, so that isn't as stressful either.

(It's a Harry Potter AU where Harry died in DHPt2 and if Neville didn't exist, and it's sad. Like make the author cry while writing it, sad)

- Hang out with a friend every week. I've decided to be more social this summer. I almost NEVER hang out with my friends over the summer, for I'm an antisocial freak, and it's kind of depressing. I'm determined to change that. A friend is coming over in an hour, so I already got a head start on that (and I need to speed up this post okay cool.)

- Not go into a reading slump, and attempt to read daily. Don't get me wrong, I love reading (I mean I should), but it's hard to remind myself sometimes. It's not that I have to force myself to pick up a book, it's just that it's hard sometimes to put down my computer and calm down. During the school year it's 10x easier because it's like sometimes in the school day, all I can do is read. But in the summer it's like overwhelming with millions of things to do. Does anyone understand?

July TBR

I'm going to lay it low with the TBR and give myself only 4 books to read, so it isn't 100% overwhelming.

P.S I Still Love You - Jenny Han / I finally picked up this book after months of being on my TBR..

Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins / Trying to read more books off my shelves.

The Copper Gauntlet - Holly Black&Cassandra Clare / Picked this up weeks ago, never read it..

Shiver - Maggie Stiefvater / More Maggie Stiefvater? Sign me up.

Let's be productive this July! I hope I possibly motivated you to create some goals of your own for this month :D

Reading is fun and I always need more recommendations, so what is your July TBR or what books are you looking forward to reading this summer? (i have a gigantic TBR already but why not make it monstrous eh?)

Thanks for reading,
Noor

(I promote this every post but Rukiya is hosting BCA where you vote for your favorite bloggers in different categories over on her blog and it's really fun so I highly recommend that you check it out okay go go go, link is here :D)

  1. Awesome post! I actually don't have that much on my TBR right now.

  2. I GET EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN WITH THE NOT WANTING TO READ THING. Like, do I like the book I'm reading? Yes. Could I be reading right now? Yes. Do I want to be reading? Yes. Am I reading? No.
My TBR pile is a bit wonky this month - I'm knee-deep in the 1468-page unabridged Les Miserables, so //if// I manage to finish that this month, I'll probably dive into either Blood Canticle by Anne Rice or Symptoms of Being Human by Jeff Garvin. But that's only if I finish it, which I may not.
THE COPPER GAUNTLET HAS SUCH A GORGEOUS COVER OMG.
Ahh, your fanfiction sounds awesome! I'm participating in Camp too - my first NaNo event, because November and April, as the second-to-last months in each semester at my school, are definitely the two hardest-hitting in terms of schoolwork - and I'm writing a novella about the apocalypse and smol demon beans who kidnap an angel. Good luck with your writing!

    1. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! My favorite part of this comment is 'do I like the book I'm reading? Yes. Could I be reading right now? Yes. Do I want to be reading? Yes. Am I reading? No.' Like, LOL!!!

  3. I understand your reading slump problem, sometimes I have so many books on my TBR that I can't bring myself to start one.
But I want to read at least a WHOPPING TWENTY books this summer!
I recently finished the copper gauntlet (after reading the Iron Trial) and thought it was pretty good, nice delicious twisty turnsies.
    Have a lovely day/night/summer!

  4. I'm sure that you'll do wonderfully on all of your goals! And I totally understand what you mean about not wanting to read, even though I love to sometimes it can feel like a chore ♥

  5. Hi Noor, good luck with your July goals, believe in yourself and achieve them! (I know you can ;) )
Ahh, TBRs. I don't really write out a list or anything but I will try to be reading: a Nanny Piggins book (can't remember which one), finish reading Little House In the Big Woods, the Ella Diaries series, Class Dismissed and also finish reading Goosebumps: Say Cheese and Die. Gosh, I doubt I'm gonna finish all these books!
Anyways, have a fabulous summer Noor! *inserts summery emojis*

  6. Reading slumps were what happened to me every summer until I started college, so I know exactly what you mean :P Now it's the other way around though. Summer is the only time of the year when I have time to binge read, so I'm finishing a book every other day now.
I hope you reach all your goals :) Have a wonderful summer Noor!

  8. I too am guilty of falling into reading slumps. I swear, this July I'm really getting my act together and reading AT LEAST 4 books also: One I really want to get my hands on is Simon and the Homo Sapiens Agenda. I've heard great things about it.

Good luck with your July goals, Noor! I hope they go well for you, and I hope the month is a happy one!

  10. I totally get what you said about reading books. And seeing friends. Wow, it seems we have some things in common.
Here's to you succeeding in all of the above! And you managed to motivate me some, might I add.

  11. Sounds like a plan, I need to be more regular about posting too, but summer seems to be the worst time for me to try and fix it.

  12. Those are great goals! Over the summer I'm going to try to:
    Go on my phone less

Good luck acheiving those! I know you will :)

Hey! Yes you, you're about to leave a comment, why thank you! Just remember, if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all.
