How To: Write The Perfect Comment

Hello everyone! I can't believe I haven't wrote a post since last month! (sorry I had to) Happy November everyone! Time to prepare for the long coming winter :P Today's Blogtober- er, sorry so used to that.

Today, I'll be talking a little bit about how to write the perfect (or at least half decent) comment. I've seen magnificent comments, and comments that look something like this:

Cool post.

[name]
[link]

No, just no. But you may be wondering, why should my comment be good? That's a fantastic question.

1- To make the blogger happy. Okay bloggers, don't deny it, you like getting comments. So why not spread the happiness and make another blogger happy with your feedback!

2- Maybe you'll gain a new reader. This is more of a personal benefit and slightly cocky explanation but hey, a new reader can never hurt. It's sort of a win win situation I guess. I check out everyone's blog after they comment.

Note: Please please do not comment just to gain a reader.

Now, let's get into what you can put into a comment to make it nice and joyous.

Something about the post. Tell the blogger that you actually read the post. Be relatable, say 'Hey I did ___ too!' or 'Wow I didn't know you did ____'. Bloggers want you to engage with them, so actually showing them you read their post.

A compliment about the post. This is fairly self explanatory, something nice about it. BUT, a compliment does not mean: (Cool, nice) post. and that's it. It means something like great, lovely, wonderful post, and something else like I really thought it was helpful, 'I like how you did ___'.

Your name and link. This is absolutely optional, you don't have to do this at all. I don't do it a lot, I always do add my name but I rarely ever drop my link. If you do want to maybe gain another reader (please check note above), you should leave your link. Here's a don't you shouldn't do:

Speaking of do's and don'ts, here are some commenting do's and dont's.

Do- all of the things above xD
Don't- Leave a two word comment
Do- not be afraid to write a long comment. Especially on opinion posts, you might have a lot to say! Don't forget to speak your mind, that's what a comment is for. Only a horrible blogger will not read your long comment.
Don't- Be boring. Liven up that comment! No one wants to read a boring comment.
