a strong word

what a strong word
h a t r e d
we use it to describe things we dislike
we use it like it's something simple
hating something is normal
we all hate something or someone

our world is built on hatred
society can be defined in one word
h a t r e d
greed, envy, wrath
all based off of hatred

people will do horrible things because of
h a t r e d
hatred for a person because they're different
or because they have done something odd

we can hate
it's human nature
there will never be a time when someone doesn't hate
humans were created that way
it may be a bad thing
but hatred builds us, creates us in good ways and bad

hatred is part of the natural flow of life
we love and hate
and that's okay

but sometimes hatred goes too far
and people will hurt others
that's a deep hatred
that breaks the flow

and divides our nation
that kills our humanity

This wasn't meant to be sappy, or beautiful. It was meant to make a point, it was meant to show how hatred is a natural thing, but we shouldn't push it.

I think many of you may have realized that this was based off the attacks on Paris recently and also based off of ISIS.

The last little stanza there was based off of something from the Quran, the holy book of Islam. It states that if you kill one innocent person, you destroy the nation.

On a brighter note, I got 50,000 pageviews! Thank you all, that's so amazing! Hopefully I can reach another 50,000 something this month ;)

Also, Rukiya is hosting a trivia game thing, which you should so check out, because it's going to be loads of fun!

Remember, it's human nature to hate things, so don't feel bad about it. But also, don't use hate carelessly, it's a strong word that's meant for something you really dislike.

Thanks for reading,
Noor

  5. I think you've made a great point, Noor.
One of the kids in one of the classes I have to teach at my internship lost his uncle in Paris. I have no idea how to deal with both his loss and my shock at the same time. I think we should try to compensate this one big act of hatred with love :)

  6. I've been thinking about humanity, hate and the Paris attacks lately too. Our world can be such a dark place. It's sad that some people's hate has the power to ruin someone else's life.

  7. It seems as if there's always conflict going on in the world, and the whole situation in Syria regarding ISIS is so so complicated. Every conflict relates to power and vision and I wonder how so many opinions will ever be able to live in peace. People in general are ugly, but we could always look at their imperfections as beautiful.

  8. This really is beautiful and you've made a great point about hatred being part of human nature, I've been thinking about this a lot lately too and its so amazing how although we harbour all this hatred inside us as humans, we still try to draw happiness and hope from every dark situation. I wrote a poem about this on my blog just because I find hope so amazing.
