DIY Kool-Aid Slushie (and SBBC Session 1)

Hello everyone! I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS POST! Today is the beginning of the awesome Summer Blogger Book Club!!! WHOOP WHOOP! So I'll share some stuff about that, and then I have a quick recipe for a yummy Kool-Aid Slushie! Yay! Let's get into the post :D

YAYYYYYY! Who's excited, I know I am :D Alright, let's look at the books you get to read this session.

A Year Without Autumn- Liz Kessler

On her way to visit her best friend, Autumn, Jenni Green suddenly finds she's been transported exactly one year forward in time. Now she discovers that in the year that's gone by, tragedy has
struck and her friendship with Autumn will never be the same again. But what caused the tragedy?

Fangirl- Rainbow Rowell
(Note: this book does have swearing)

Cath is a Simon Snow fan, a huge one. But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving. Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere. Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go.
Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this? Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories? And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

We Were Liars- E.Lockhart
(This is the book that I'll be reading)

A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.

Counting By 7's- Holly Goldberg Sloan

Willow Chance is a twelve-year-old genius, obsessed with nature and diagnosing medical conditions, who finds it comforting to count by 7s. It has never been easy for her to connect with anyone other than her adoptive parents, but that hasn’t kept her from leading a quietly happy life... until now.

Suddenly Willow’s world is tragically changed when her parents both die in a car crash, leaving her alone in a baffling world. The triumph of this book is that it is not a tragedy. This extraordinarily odd, but extraordinarily endearing, girl manages to push through her grief. Her journey to find a fascinatingly diverse and fully believable surrogate family is a joy and a revelation to read.

Those are all the books that we will be discussing! Remember, if you cannot get access to any of these books, let me know which book you want to read in the comments :)

Don't forget to participate during the session by sharing discussions on the Goodreads group and maybe sharing a review on your blog!

Happy reading everyone :D Now onto the recipe :D

DIY Kool-Aid Slushie

Ingredients:
2 cups ice water
1 packet Kool Aid drink mix (use your favorite flavor) or 1 tablespoon of the powder
A little bit more than 1/2  cup sugar
4 cups or 1 full tray of ice cube

Instructions:
Put all of the ingredients into your blender.
Process until well blended
(If your blender has modes, set it on ice crush)
This was sort of a "Pintertest" and it turned out pretty well. But here are some things I learned.
-Don't blend for too long, otherwise it doesn't have that slushie like feeling.
-Put a little more sugar, the Kool-Aid flavor is a bit strong.
I hope you enjoyed today's post and GET READING!!
Mkay bye,
Noor
 P.S- Here's a link to a drink recipe I did last year ;)
